As my senior year comes to a close, my time in the Neuqua Media Department is also ending. It has been a crazy year, but I have also grown a lot as a filmmaker and news reporter. It was my third year in both Production and Broadcast Journalism.
In Production, I created different types of videos. I learned much more detailed and advanced information about editing and filming, including more in depth ways of how to use a DSLR and Final Cut Pro. I feel as if my editing skills in Production three is what was improved the most. I still want to learn more about creative filming, but it will take time to learn something so detailed fully. I hope that next year I am still able to make creative films, despite the fact that I'll be focused on only journalism. I enjoyed my time in Production very much. I learned and grew immensely, and I am sad that it has to come to an end.
In Broadcast Journalism, it was a very unique year for me. I was chosen as a Coordinating Producer. Having this job, I was responsible for maintaining a group of reporters and helping them with their stories. With this responsibility, I learned a lot about being proactive with work. I also learned how important it is to give honesty critiques. Sometimes, I would get nervous to give critiques to my peers, and I neglected the fact that my comments can actually help these reporters benefit and improve their stories. I eventually overcame that fear because I realized how beneficial it is for me to help. Doing this also helped me grow and gain confidence in my stories. I was proud about everything that I was producing, and proud of my group for the work that they have done. As my time as a CP comes to a close, my goal is to still use these qualities that I have learned next year at the University of Missouri. I will be starting my journey as a broadcast journalist, so I hope I can still use everything that I have learned next year while I produce larger stories. Overall, my time in Broadcast Journalism will be something I will never forget. This class has taught me so much and helped me grow as a student and a news reporter. I wish it didn't end so soon, but I know it's time to move on and grow as a reporter in the real world.

First semester of Production 2 and Broadcast Journalism 2 has taught me a lot. Specifically in Production, I learned more about actually working the cameras. I also feel as if I grew the most in my editing skills. Compared to last year, I have grown a lot with how I chose to edit my videos. I feel as if I still have not grown in my creative skills. I am not good at creating ideas, but I can do it at times. I am still working on growing in my creative side. For next semester, I plan on working on my creative side. I hit road blocks a lot that can hold me back from creating awesome videos. Overall, being in level 2 classes for just one semester has truly helped me grow as a student and a producer.
As Second Semester comes to a close, I have learned the importance of being creative. In Production, creating ideas has come easier to me which has shown that I have improved majorly. In Broadcast Journalism 2, my technical skills have improved a lot. I have perfected interview shots and am still improving on my editing skills. Although some of my stories this year were not the best, I have improved a lot which is the most important. As I keep improving, I look forward to the different aspects I will be able to achieve as the next year quickly approaches.
I have grown a lot as a film maker and a producer. My skills have improved, which helps me commit to the goal of becoming a news anchor when I grow up. After Neuqua, I plan on majoring in Broadcast Journalism and succeeding in that major, because it is a passion of mine. My goals are to be successful and to inspire others as we all grow as producers.
